Harris Family Viral Video Helps Santorum Sweep South

After attending a political rally for their favorite Republican candidate, Rick Santorum, the Harris family decided to make a music video in his support. The Harrises and their eight children, from Tulsa, Oklahoma collaborated on the project, writing the music, lyrics, performing and recording it themselves. They believed it was the best way they could show their support.

Dad and Pastor David Harris explained how it happened. “On the way home Camille starts singing this tune. I started screaming. I said oh no, this is it guys. I just know it’s gonna go viral. From the very first note that came out of her mouth.”

Camille Harris, who sings the campaign song with her sister Haley, and who also have their own rock band called “First Love,” explained what happened next: “The next thing you know we go on Twitter and Mr. Rick Santorum himself, Senator, said something like ‘love the sang and video, game on, thank you Harris family from Oklahoma.’ And then he put the link to the video. And we’re like ahhh.”

Santorum told the Harris family that he wants them to travel along with him on the campaign trail, singing their ditty, called “Game On,” for his supporters.
Not all has been rosy for the Harrises on YouTube, however. Several detractors have posted comments saying that the family is “cult like.” Comments like these do not worry David, however. He brushes off any negativity by explaining that, “negative publicity is still publicity.”

Many analysts feel that the excitement which the Harris family video elicited helped Santorum win the primaries in Alabama and Mississippi this past Tuesday. Their song is now the official campaign song for the Santorum bid for the Republican nomination. With almost one million hits, it seems the Harrises may really make a difference.
