With a little more than a month to go until mid term elections Marco Rubio has built a comfortable double digit lead, yet for this Tea Party backed political star, no lead can be considered safe. Since Marco Rubio’s amazing primary win in August, many commentators have noted his moderating rhetoric. The question arises whether this sort of rhetoric is pretty much superficial or substantive.“Marco Rubio owes his position to the Tea Party, the 9/12 groups and the other grassroots groups,” said Robin Stublen, a Tea Party activist who founded the Punta Gorda Tea Party in Florida. Yet Stublen understands the dilemma Marco Rubio faces. With a significant third party challenge by Gov. Charlie Crist, Rubio has had to pull in Independents and moderate Republicans without squandering the energy fueling his primary win.
