A CONVENTION, a CONSTITUTION, and the DEBATES IN
NEW YORK.
The Federalist Papers are a collection of articles that appeared in
newspapers in New York from late 1787 to late 1788.
Published originally under the pseudonym PUBLIUS, these eighty-five essays were
written by Alexander Hamilton, John Jay, and James Madison to explain the
benefits of the proposed Constitution to the people, and to defend it against
its many critics.
