Representative Mark Walker, Republican rookie congressman from North Carolina, called Bruce Springsteen a ‘bully’ for cancelling his concert as a protest against a controversial law recently passed in his state.

Springsteen cancelled late last week a concert that was scheduled for Sunday, April 10 in Greensboro, one of the cities which Walker represents.

“Some things are more important than a rock show and this fight against prejudice and bigotry — which is happening as I write — is one of them. It is the strongest means I have for raising my voice in opposition to those who continue to push us backwards instead of forwards,” the Boss said.

The law Springsteen is protesting requires that people use bathrooms according to the gender written on their birth certificates. Critics say this law discriminates against gay and transgender people.

Walker said he is disappointed that Springsteen is not following through on his commitment to perform.
