Decorum Out the Window for Santorum

The circus arena that is the GOP race just got that much livelier – and more inappropriate.  On Sunday, Rick Santorum described Mitt Romney as

“the worst Republican in the country to put up against Barack Obama.”

Finishing up a rally at the South Hills Country Club in Wisconsin, Santorum told the Republicans that they should “pick any other Republican” since, as he said, Romney is “uniquely disqualified” to be the one running against Obama.

Asked by reporters to clarify his words, Santorum said,

“I would say, as for, on the issue of health care, yes, that’s what I was talking about – Obamacare, as you heard me say. That’s what I said. I didn’t say anything different than that. That’s exactly what I said.”

Then, when Jeff Zeleny of The New York Times pushed him for further clarity, Santorum said, “What speech did you listen to? Stop lying.”

Accusing the press of word distortion, Santorum went so far as to say,

“I’ve been saying it in every speech. Quit distorting our words. If I see it [in print], it’s bull(expletive). C’mon man, what are you doing?”

“It’s bull****?”  No matter who you favor for the GOP nomination and whose ideas you back, these do not seem like the words of a future president.
