Tweet If You Like Obama

If you’re on Twitter (and even if you’re not), it might be time to start following Obama. That’s because US President Barack Obama has just gotten into the Twitter act in a more active way. His campaign just announced in a posting on its website that Obama will not be tweeting regularly from Twitter. You’ll know it’s him by the “-BO” at the end of the tweet.

Managing Those Accounts

The campaign now expects to manage Obama’s Facebook page and his Twitter account.Such a “-BO” message was seen on Friday night, when Obama welcomed follows to “a new (at)BarackObama. From now on, (hash)Obama2012 staff will manage this account; tweets from the President will be signed “-BO.”

The Twitter Bandwagon

The campaign explained on the website how they plan to use the change and why they are joining the Twitter bandwagon. As they wrote, “will give us new opportunities to make the most of these channels, using them not only to report what the president is doing every day but to connect to the millions of supporters who will be driving this campaign.”Obama can feel good about his following on Twitter so far. He has more than 8.69 million followers, which takes the bronze medal to Lady Gaga and Justin Beiber.Obama’s Twitter picture shows Obama smiling, rather than the official White House picture that had been there. And, of course, it has his 2012 campaign logo resting on the base of the picture.
